Hesitation
Genesis 13:14-15 The Lord said to Abram after Lot had parted from him, “Lift up your eyes from where you are and look north and south, east and west. All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring forever. I will make your offspring like dust, then your offspring could be counted. Go walk, through the length and breadth of the land, for I am giving it to you.”
God commanded Abram to leave his country, his people and his father’s people. Abram left but he took his nephew Lot along with him. Funny thing, Lot was characterized as being an unsure man. When faced with decisions, Lot hesitated and was uncertain. Taking this a step further, in the New Testament a system called casting lots was implemented to determine God’s will in a matter. When people were unsure or indecisive about a matter, they would cast lots.
In essence, God spoke to Abram, gave him clear instruction on what actions to take and he took hesitation and uncertainty right along with him.
We have to learn to leave fear and uncertainty behind when God is calling us to better things. The more you allow hesitation and uncertainty to govern your life, the more unfocused you become. When Lot departed, fear departed and Abram was able to see all that God was giving him. Not only did God show him but he commanded him to walk around in it and get familiar with it because it is yours!
For many years I had a lot in my life. Fear kept me from realizing all that God wanted for me and all that he was preparing for me. One day, I got over it and understood that God had already moved me out of my Egypt and it was time for me to see myself in the same way.
My Prayer for you:
Dear God, thank you for your wonderful word that has never-ending lessons. Lord, you have commanded us to take action and we’ve hesitated because of fear. Help fear depart from us, giving us a clear vision of your purpose in our life. Help us to keep our focus on you and to trust what you say to us. Lord we are unable to move without your blessing and direction. Speak Lord, for we are listening with great expectation. In Jesus name,
Have a wonderful weekend!
Much Love,
