The Law of Magnetism for Time Management & Organization

This week at Origins of Peace, LLC we’re focusing on Time Management and Organization. My goal is to introduce a few tips and techniques that you can put into action that will hopefully help you maximize your day and add peace to what may be a chaotic daily routine. The tools that I share can be used both personally and professionally.

The first thing that I want you to do is take a brief self-assessment. Circle all of the words below that describe how you are currently feeling or have felt in the past 7 days:

anxious              procrastination              lack of sleep              lack of focus       low energy            missed deadlines           decreased work productivity             overextension

panicky              over-whelm                     lateness                       stress                      irritably                 tardiness                             decreased quality of work                  inability to set and achieve goals

Reflect on the words that you circled as you dive into this week’s materials.

We’re kicking things off by looking at one of the 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership. Proper leadership is important in your personal and professional life. Let’s be real, if you can’t properly lead your own life, you have absolutely no business trying to influence anyone else. The Law of Magnetism says, ‘who you attract is not determined by what you want, it’s determined by who you are. Let’s think about who you are in relation to this law. Are you anxious, panicky, stressed or irritable? Do you procrastinate, have low energy, or feel over-whelmed? If any of these describe how you are feeling or have recently felt, you have to put structure around those negatives in order to transpose them into positives.

Poor Time Management and inefficient Organization are often the cause of many of these symptoms. If you feel erratic, you will attract erratic elements into your life. This includes people, circumstances and feelings.

In your personal life, incorporate activities that allow you to save time and make things more convenient for yourself. I like to utilize Meal Prepping to help me stay on track with healthy eating and to save time. I like to pre-make my meals on Sunday and Wednesday for three days at a time. Meal Prepping allows me to create routine and habit in my life. If nutrition is important to you, give Meal Prepping a try.

I also use Calendars and Planners to help me keep up with appointments and obligations. In the past I’ve always started the year off using these tools but after a few months of documenting my schedule, my consistency waivers. This year I’m using “The Very Busy Planner” by Amy Knapp. This all-inclusive planner has prompts to help you reflect on your goals, tips to keep your happiness elevated and quotes to get you inspired! One of my favorite pages in this planner is the “Lemons to Lemonade” page. It’s an ideation page that provides space for me to jot down activities that promote joy when I’m feeling down.

In your professional life, self-care is important as well as digital transformation.

For self-care I pull out all the stops. When you start a self-care routine it is important to incorporate things that speak to you personally. I incorporate massages, meal prep, sound therapy, time management, daily devotions and self-help rituals. Out of all these things, the most important self-care technique that I incorporate is creating my own personal narrative. I personally believe life is what you make it and how you start doesn’t dictate how things will end for you. You have the power to change your situation and create a new way forward. If you’ve been around here long enough, you’ve heard of a Peace Map. Use the template below to start your journey.

Digital Transformation is a company’s ability to integrate technology into its processes and business structure. If you are a business owner, consider using Google or Microsoft Products to help organize your business and provide structure. You can create and store your files online, facilitate online coaching and consulting sessions and even host group workshops. The number of business opportunities available to you through digital transformation is incredible. To incorporate Digital Transformation, you have to understand your services and the processes used to accomplish them. If you need help achieving this, use the contact form below to set an appointment with me.

This week, through narratives, videos and audio recordings I will share more content to help you refine your Time Management and Organizational Skills. Take the following actions to get access to all of my content:

Day 7: Do A Lil Something Extra To Boost Your Immune System

If we’re anything alike, you’re doing the most trying to boost your immune system and stay healthy. A few of my daily rituals include adding a little Apple Cider Vinegar to my morning cup of Herbal Tea to kill viruses and bacteria and also eating more citrus fruits to boost my Vitamin C Level. Be sure to check out my website for all your Herbal Tea needs.

While scrolling through Instagram I came across a recipe for a mixture called Fire Cider and I am definitely curious to give it a try.

From what I’ve read, Fire Cider has many health benefits, with the two most common being boosting your immune system and fighting cold and flu. The instructions say to take 1 tablespoon daily to prevent illness and 1 tablespoon 3 times a day if you are not well.

I’ve included a recipe below so that you can try it. I’ve also included a link for you to read more about Fire Cider and all of it’s amazing benefits.

Your second challenge of the day is to find additional ways to boost your immune system.

Peace.

Ingredients:

  1. 1  horseradish root
  2. 1 ginger root
  3. 1  onion
  4. 1 garlic head
  5. 1 turmeric root or 1 tablespoon of ground turmeric
  6. 2-4 habanero peppers
  7. Apple cider vinegar
  8. Honey (added after the fermentation process is done and fire cider is strained to balance the spicy taste)

Instructions:

  • I usually start by grating ginger and horseradish roots and chop garlic, onions, and hot peppers and place them in  a tight lid jar.
  • It’s recommended to do the grating and chopping in a well-ventilated area if you can’t tolerate the strong smell and fumes, especially when you are grating horseradish root and onion
  • Add apple cider vinegar to the jar and make sure everything is submerged and shake well.
  • Screw the lid tightly in place
  • Place the jar in a dark, cool place and let it sit for 2-4 weeks and don’t forget to shake it every day.
  • After 2-4 weeks strain the fire cider and transfer the liquid part into a  tight lid container and discard the herbs and veggies.
  • Remember to keep the lid tightly sealed when you are not consuming it, so it stays fresh potent for longer
  • Store fire cider in the fridge at all times. Fire cider has long shelf life and can stay good for up to 1 year.

KMPD-COVID-19_30 DAY Wellness Challenge

Most of us have orders to Stay At Home well into the month of April. The coronavirus is really out here doing the most and in response, we need to do a lot less….togetherness. Social Distancing is the number one method to mitigate the risk of contracting coronavirus. This means you purposely put space (at least 6ft) between you and your co-worker, neighbor, family, yoga instructor, preacher, teacher and everyone else.

Depeding on your personality type, this can become a real probem, real quick. My goal is to help you keep your Peace of Mind, Body & Spirit by maintaining your wellness.

It all starts tomorrow, March 31st.

Visit my site: http://www.melissaarivers.com daily at 8 am for tips and information.

I keep hearing the phrase, “we’re all in this together”, that can only be true if we all come out better than we started.

Blessings to you and your loved ones. See you tomorrow, Peace!

Is there Peace in the Present Moment

20170413_105212Why is it that people always advise you to live in the present moment?

Sometimes our present situations are scary. If you’ve ever experienced a true crisis, you probably wanted to think about anything other than those circumstances.

What about those seasons in life that seem to never have an expiration date, like the time when I finalized a divorce and was diagnosed with cancer within a two week time period and lost my job while going through treatments. All three of those challenges were my present moment and that sh*t was horrible. I wanted to think about anything other than my reality.

I know we can’t completely check out of life when we experience hard times but I do believe we have to narrow our vision and focus on getting through the storm to actually progress through it.

The thing that kept me focused on rising above divorce and fighting cancer was a simple Bible verse. Luke 1:45 “Blessed is she who believes that what the Lord has said to her will be accomplished.”  From God’s word I know that he’s promised long life, good health and a sound mind. In order to take hold of those blessings I had to narrow my vision, limit my conversations and focus my mind on being well physically, mentally and emotionally

Almost two years later and I can appreciate my experiences, learn from them and move on.

Hmm, if it wasn’t for my divorce I would have never fallen in love with myself and discovered my unique flavor of love. Now a days if I’m not working out or trying a new vegetarian or vegan dish, I’m spending time with people who truly love me or I’m participating in activities and events that serve a higher purpose than myself.

I don’t know what crisis or challenge you may be navigating through right now but my advice to you is acknowledge your current situation and get ready to kick, claw and fight your way into a new reality. Sometimes the peaceful have to fight too.💖

Melissa

The Importance of Sincerity

When’s the last time you had a tough conversation? One of those gut wrenching discussions where you had to be the bearer of bad news. A conversation where you knew that you were about to deliver news that could rock someone’s foundation and be detrimental to their wellbeing.

I’ll never forget the day I told my ex that I wanted a divorce. It was tough to figure out how to say those words because I had never been an advocate for divorce before.

What I realized when delivering the news to him was that I needed to be direct in my approach, clear with my words and my energy needed to be sincere. It was important to me to reaffirm the work that we had put into trying to save our marriage but I was also sure to acknowledge the reality that things just weren’t working out.

Are you may facing a tough conversation? Are you unsure about what your approach should be?

My advice to you is to speak from your heart, say what’s on your mind and sprinkle in a little sincerity and grace.

Delivery is key.

Melissa

A Prayer for Restoration

Dear Lord,

Thank you for restoring those things that were once lost. I appreciate your willingness to restore them better than they previously were. Its been said that time heals all wounds but I’m a firm believer that you make things right in your time and then you redeem the time that was lost. You are amazing. Always watching over us and guiding us through life. I pray to trust you more. I pray for a better understanding of your love for us. I thank you for blessing us according to your love and I am thankful that in you all is well.

In Jesus Name,

Melissa

Choose Peace over Fear

Creating more Peace in our lives begins with changing our thought process and mindset. The way that we think about a thing ultimately shapes your beliefs about the experience and the outcome.

I realize that we live in an world of uncertainty but how much more could we enjoy the life that we’ve been given by simply changing how we think.

Lets talk about fear-based thinking and how it causes us to live a defeated life.

Fear based thinking is defined as having a mindset that focuses on limiting beliefs. What ever opportunities arise, a fear-based thinker will find a reason not to show up for the challenge. Many people miss out on travel opportunities and career advancement because of a fear of uncertainty. Constantly dwelling on why an action shouldn’t be completed instead of focusing on the numerous benefits that a good opportunity can bring is absolutely numbing.

It’s a known fact that you will accomplish every limit that you set for yourself. If you constantly focus on not being able to afford certain things, then you will never afford it. If you focus on never being able to take a vacation, you will never go.  If you truly want to be happy and find Peace within, drop the fear, take action and live your best life!

I’ve laid out three easy to implement tips that will help you eliminate fear-based thinking.

  1. Set goals and take intentional action to accomplish them.
  2. Practice the art of NOW and stop procrastinating.
  3. Establish your choices in truth and stand firm in your decisions.

By taking these steps you’re building your self-esteem, becoming more confident, wiping out fear and establishing Peace!

Find Peace and Be Well.
