” You Can’t Find Rest in a Place That You Don’t Trust”

What are you praying for, hoping for and dreaming of accomplishing?

Are you all in and ready for the next level or is there something that is holding you back?

During my month-long hiatus, I had to ask myself these same questions about my business, my relationships and life in general.

The resounding answer came to me in the form of a sermon from @jadaedwards, of #OneCommunityChurch.

The answer that was revealed loud and clear said, “you cannot find rest in a place that you don’t trust.”

I was immediately convicted and had to ask myself….

  • Do I fully trust that I will be successful in my work?
  • Do I believe there is safety and acceptance for me in relationships?
  • Do I trust that God will allow me to experience true peace on this side of heaven?

To truly experience the rest that I desire, there are several growth gaps that I need to work through, to build trust in those areas.

“My Action Plan for Peace” includes more authentic connection, more play and more movement.

What about you?

Is it time to hit the reset button?

Is it time to do things differently?

Are there areas in your life where you are trusting God to make a major move, but you lack the complete trust that will transport you to your next destination?

Let’s talk about it.

Schedule your Create! Session today and together we will build your Action Plan for Peace!

“Father God, I thank you for giving me beauty for my ashes and praise where there is pressure.”

– Amen

Have you ever heard of an Alone Audit?

Yes, this is totally a thing.
I discovered this phenomenon while flipping through the pages of Oprah Magazine, Live Your Best Life.
Apparently, an Alone Audit allows you to track how you spend your alone time and the activities that you prefer to do alone.
I am here for it. I think it helps you to gauge what activities you are comfortable doing on your own and which you prefer to do with a companion. It might also be helpful if you’re attempting to boost your social interactions with others. Too much alone time isn’t good. There needs to be balance.
With that said, our website, http://www.origins of peace.com will be offline during month of March while we perform some much-needed upgrades to the website and also dive into some continuous development work.
We will be offline on our website, but you can catch us in person, today February 26th from 1pm-5pm at the Cabarrus Arena in Concord, NC. We are a vendor at the Black Heritage Festival. Look for the beautiful table with the gorgeous custom Planters.
On March 11th you can find us at McGill Baptist Church in Concord, NC for the College and Career Fair. This event is hosted by the Concord Alumnae Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
I am excited to announce that Origins of Peace, LLC has been selected to participate in the Equity in Contracting program sponsored by @Wells Fargo and @CPCC. I am ecstatic and looking forward to the opportunity to grow and develop.
Thank you so much for being an active part of the Origins of Peace Community.
Let’s keep in touch!

Mention My Name

It’s a celebration, and I could not have did it without you!

Today marks our 4-year anniversary. In true transparency, Origins of Peace has existed in many forms since 2011, but today marks four years of being intentional about our purpose, our name, and of course, our brand.

We’ve definitely come a long way by beginning as an online blog, repositioning as a community needs trainer in the back of Breakfast Time Restaurant and now transitioning into the corporate arena.

“For the vision is yet for an appointed time; but at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.” Habakkuk 2:3-4 NKJV

Thank you to everyone that has mentioned my name and offered a word of reference on my behalf.

I am grateful!

Origins of Peace,
Melissa

Love & Culture Month

Welcome to February, the month designated for the appreciation of blackness and love, remember to lead with love.

“you attract more goodness with honey than vinegar.”

You cannot be bitter and spiteful toward those you lead or love and expect them to show up as their best self!

What’s one thing that you can implement during the next week to lead with honey (love).

Origins of Peace,
Melissa

Draw A Circle Around The Things You Love

What do you love and how do you keep it sacred?
Anyone or anything that is near and dear to my heart has a specific prayer strategy attached to it.
This is important to me now more than ever because the world is different, people are different and the expectations that are placed upon us can be quite daunting.
It can be A lot!
No matter how challenging times may seem, if I hold something sacred to my heart, I tend to protect it…sometimes more than I should.
I can be guilty of protecting relationships that I have no business entertaining.
With this being the case, I place everything that is near to me in a prayer circle. I identify it as something special and then I create specific prayers around it.
My prayers include guidance to know if I should protect it, nurture it or eliminate it.
It is extremely important to classify accordingly. My circle includes family, friends, acquaintances, career & business and anything else that is significant to me.
I am definitely not a “good vibe” only type of person. I believe in genuine interactions and meaningful connections, however; when I’m done, I am done for real.
BUT TRULEY, I tell you, if anything that is within my circle allows outside influences to deteriorate what we have, a realignment is in order.
As we prepare for Love & Culture Month (February), let’s get clear about what is important. If it is important to you, you should be important as well.
What’s in your circle and do you have a prayer strategy for it?
On February 1st I will begin re-reading the book Draw the Circle The 40 Day Prayer Challenge.
Want to join me?
We can check in with one another every 8 days or so to see how things are going and to discuss the revelations that are being shown to us.

The Beauty of Your Dreams

I am definitely in the small audience who loved the series, “The First Lady,” starring Michelle Pfeiffer as Betty Ford, Viola Davis as Michelle Obama, and Gillian Anderson as Eleanor Roosevelt.
Although the criticism was loud and the series was cancelled after the first season, it is still nominated for 3 Emmy Awards.
The intention of the series is to reframe the idea of leadership through the feminine perspective, inclusive of family, relationships and contribution.
My point in sharing this is to encourage you to stay with your dreams. Your vision was given to you, in order to share it with others. Everyone will not understand your perspective. Some might even disagree with your point of view. In the end, there are those who will applaud you and reward your work. Those are your people!
I welcome the opportunity to learn more about your dreams. Comment below and let me know what you are working on.

The Wellbeing Summit

“We are intentionally designing a convening that will capitalize on the fact that we have all of you — the experts — in one room. At the Summit we’ll connect across boundaries to ignite dual sparks of creativity and purpose. We will spend our time learning from one another and actively designing solutions for how we tackle some of our communities’ largest challenges, together”.

Last month, the Wellbeing Summit was held in Charlotte, NC. I had the honor of being invited as a local maker, to showcase my business and share my products with some of the nation’s most recognized thought leaders and change managers. It was an honor to be invited, since this was an invitation only event and it highlighted the fact that when one suffers, we all suffer, and when one has a well thought out solution……it should be shared!

Today as we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., take a moment and check on your neighbor, your friend, you family member…..and get a better understanding of what they currently need. It could be as simple as an encouraging word or as detrimental as a nice hot meal.

Whatever it is, let’s do our part to bring the world a little closer together today.

Happy MLK Jr. Day and may his spirit live on forever.
