The Makings of You

Hi there & Happy Valentine’s Day! I hope everyone is doing well and feeling great! I am excited to share today’s post with you. As promised, I am focusing on song lyrics this month and creating a quick, snippet of inspiration based off of a line or verse.

I heard a little of “The Makings of You,” by Curtis Mayfield the other night and I’ve been listening to it since that day. Beautiful song! For all you lovebirds out there, I recommend playing it for Valentine’s Day. It might score you some extra love points. You can thank me later.

I am inspired by the lyrics, “these are the makings of you, it is true, the makings of you.”

Your presence excites me

The thought of you makes my heart pound

And when I see you, I anticipate the moment that you acknowledge me and say hi

You are wise and kind and gentle with your words. Your affection cannot be duplicated

Your gaze of admiration makes me giddy and vulnerable all at the same time

You have that effect on me

I want to know all about you

How you think and why

You embody love, humility, strength and wisdom

You make me better, not just me but everyone you meet

“These are the true makings of you”

Go in peace and find somebody to make you feel giddy and vulnerable all at the same time.

~Peace

Different on Purpose

John 15:13 KJV: Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friend.

How would you spend your time if you knew someone purposely died for you? Would you live any differently? Would you make different choices? What if someone loved you so much that they willingly gave up their life so that you could live a victorious one. How would you remember them? Would you resolve to live your life by honoring them or would you chose to live on your own terms and disregard their honorable act of sacrifice.

For the millions who have accepted Christ and made the choice to devote their lives to him, let’s make it our business to live different on purpose. I know it can be easy to get caught up in the everyday messiness of the world and heaven knows that we are far from perfect people but effort goes a long way. When God created the Heavens and the Earth, he put forth the effort. When Adam and Eve found themselves unclothed in the Garden and God gave them covering, he put forth the effort. When God raised Lazarus from the dead and restored life to him, he put forth the effort. The same effort was exhibited when God gave us his only begotten son. All throughout the Bible we find God always putting forth effort on our behalf.

How are you repaying him?

When God created you, he put forth the effort so that you could fulfill a void that exists in this world. Without your time, talent and influence, there is a need that will forever be unfulfilled. What can you do to live different on purpose to ensure that God’s word is fulfilled in your life.

My different on purpose looks like this: Personally, I like to sprinkle a little SuGa into the lives of believers and seekers. Prayerfully I give myself away to be used by God. Purposely I share the message of Christ with others with the hope that they will share with someone else.

Make the effort to live different on purpose today.

Peace and Wellness,

SuGa

Heartbeat

Psalm 126:5 NIV – Those who cry while they plant will joyfully sing while they harvest. The person who goes out weeping, carrying his bag of seed, will come home singing, carrying his bundles of grain.

God has promised to replace our tears with joy and our weeping with singing. Our job is to remain loyal in our obligations. Whatever responsibilities that God has entrusted to us, may we run our race whole-heartedly and never give in to weariness.

Trust and believe that God appreciates our willingness to complete those small tasks. Your current assignment may seem insignificant, but in due time, God will multiply your efforts and your faith will produce a harvest.

It may be rough going for you at the moment and you may feel like your current assignment is lasting a long time, but never has God forsaken those who love him! In fact, the word says that your name is written in the palm of his hand! We are reassured by God’s word that we are the apple of his eye and I firmly believe that he is concerned about every aspect of our lives.

Do you remember in the book of Genesis when God came down from Heaven to see about Adam and he asked that one simple question, “Where are you?”

Answer God and let him know where you are today. Make a decision to dedicate every waking moment of your day to God and watch him move in your life. Whatever concerns you, concerns God.

Personal Reflection:

During my quiet time, when all is still and my mind isn’t racing, I love to sit and listen to the sound of my heart beat… “thump thump”, “thump thump”, “thump thump”. Those thumps are soon replaced with the phrase…”go God”, “go God”, “go God”

Each time I repeat this phrase I am humbled because God loves me so much and I am reminded by every heartbeat that God is always with me, he is always in control and I am reassured in the fact that everything that I am and will ever be is all because of his love for me.

I pray that you find encouragement in each heartbeat.

Much Love,

SuGa

Thank you Lord, for coming to see about me! I feel much better now!

Matthew 21:5 Say to the Daughter of Zion, see your king comes to you.

I called your name and you came to see

The burdens and strife that perplexed me

My heart was hardened and filled with callous

I felt so uneasy and full of malice

I felt attacked, abused and I wanted my revenge

I could not rest …my name I had to avenge

But just as I tried to fix matters on my own

You spoke to my spirit and my flesh started to moan

You said I am the maker and I am the way

Vengeance is mine and I will have my day

No weapon formed against you shall be able to prosper

Praise through the pain and remember my Gospel

You were bought for a price and you are my chosen child

You may suffer for a bit but it gets better after while

Your weeping may last for only one night

But your joy is coming and it will be alright

With each step that you take Grace and Mercy follow you

Don’t stoop to their level…that’s what they want you to do

You are my chosen priesthood and a peculiar people

Often they get jealous because they are not equal

Mount up Daughter of Zion and do not lose your faith

Remember the Glory that shines on your face

I am your judge and their thoughts do not matter

Remain in my presence and do not scatter

I will present you as faultless and as my very own

The love that I give you is the love that should be shone

I am always with you and I will never leave your side

Learn from past events and do not fall victim to pride

~Amen…it’s been a rough week! Thank you Lord for your gentle reminders~

~Still Praising, Still Learning and Still Growing~

Happy World Poetry Day!!

Inspired by: Jeremiah 20:9 But if I say, “I will not mention him or speak anymore in his name, “his word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in indeed, I cannot.

“FIRE”

This gift you have given me, I cannot take for granted

Years of molding and shaping me, on fertile soil it was planted

Your whispers are so sweet and fill my heart with inspiration

One mention of your sovereign name and I get motivation

With my journal wide open and my pencil in hand

I’m unclear of what to write but my spirit understands

Your Word is deep and its lessons are limitless

I’m nurturing my gift and will pursue it with vigilance

I have a need to share your Word with creative expression

I have a need to share your joy and bring a little bit of Heaven

To a hurting world and a starving generation

To spread peace and love across this great nation

As I dictate the thoughts that you bring to my mind

I am amazed at your love and wonder why you’re so kind

When I was down in sin you lifted my head

I will brag about your goodness and your gospel I will spread

Lord I thank you and with a full voice I say

I celebrate you and glorify your love on World Poetry Day!

Women’s History Month

Women’s  History Month had its origins as a national celebration in 1981 when Congress  passed Pub. L. 97-28 which authorized and requested the President to proclaim  the week beginning March 7, 1982 as “Women’s History Week.”  Throughout  the next five years, Congress continued to pass joint resolutions designating a  week in March as “Women’s History Week.”  In 1987 after being  petitioned by the National Women’s History Project, Congress passed Pub. L.  100-9 which designated the month of March 1987 as “Women’s History  Month.”

Celebrate the women in your life or better yet…women celebrate for yourself!   Perfect time to repost this poem….

Recognize, Inspired by:

Genesis Chapter 29:17 Leah had weak eyes, but Rachel had a lovely figure and was beautiful.

A Poem for Leah

Recognize

Do you not know? Have you not heard?

God is the final word.

And his lasting decree spoken over me

A woman of radiance, love and beauty

Established by the power released from His right hand

Unlocked potential to achieve more than most can

For my reach is far greater than many have seen

Secure in myself with high self-esteem

My worth holds more value than rubies or gems

Talented and confident, liberated from within

Community is important, I encourage those in need

To live a better life and my advice I pray they heed

Live up to your potential and never settle for less than best

Show up for every challenge and deliver nothing less

Offer all you have to give and your dreams will be fulfilled

Build your life on God’s foundation and your future will be sealed

Accept the blessing of His promise and make an oath to live His way

Grasp the beauty in each moment and always seize the day!

Another Chance

Another Chance

Inspired by: Genesis 4:25 NKJV…”For God has appointed another seed for me…”

Like a stream of rushing water you’ve been running from your past…

You consider yourself weak and un-equipped for the task…

You believe your life is over and you’ve thrown in the towel

You have folded your arms and given up for now

You say its way too hard and really not worth the pain

You’ve been walking around in circles and your living has been in vain

Most days your mood is sad… lonely… or depressed

You think that no one sees you and they couldn’t care less

Your night seems very long and you’re searching for your joy…

To recapture your serenity and fret no more…

But early one morning as the new dawn breaks

The dew settles slowly and HIS manna fills your space

The barren ground where you once stood…

Reveals specks of green growth so the soil here is good…

God has appointed another seed just for you

Another hope, another opportunity, another chance to start brand new

For he sees you and considers all the pain that you feel

He heard your cry, he longs for your laugh and he weeps because your issue is real

The issue is sin and it keeps us bound

It cancels out faith and welcomes fear to hang around…

It steals our confidence and keeps us trapped

It muffles our testimony and holds us in lack

It spoils our relations and curses our generations

It keeps us divided and un-united as nations…

But God has appointed another seed just for you….

Consider this verse and help spread the good news too…

It’s not too late to start fresh and to realize

Your worth is grand and you are valuable in His eyes

Long before your birth God knew you and called you his own…

He formed you and created you with purpose to be made known…

Don’t give up on yourself and let his WORD guide your path…

Your struggle was not in vain and soon again you shall laugh….

For God has appointed another seed….just for you

I can’t wait to see you smile again and witness your testimony too!

My Spirit Rejoices!

From my heart…

Your riches and glory in my life story help me remain humble and prayerful when I stumble

I’m reminded in weakness that you make me strong.

I’m encouraged to move forward and keep walking along.

I’m confident that you hold great plans for my future

You love me and protect me and my spirit you nurture

Glorify me Lord so that you may be glorified

Lift me up Father and help keep me from pride

Save me from myself and let your peace guide my path

Mold me, shape me and perfect me in my craft

Create in me a new heart and clean spirit

May your will be done and let it be deliberate

For your love is true and will never fade away

Thank you for my purpose and for blessing me this day!

A Father’s Love

A Father’s Love, Inspired by:

John 11:4 When he heard this, Jesus said, “This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God’s glory so that God’s Son may be glorified through it.”

A Father’s Love

How could she have known that she would never see him again?

Hear his words, feel his touch or walk with him hand in hand.

Hours passed as she waited in hopes that he would come

Days later, still no daddy and she felt so all alone

The church was packed and all who came were full of gloom and despair

Her cute little dress, frilly little socks and yes her daddy was there.

She looked at him and wondered why he was not looking back

She cried out with emotion from that first pew where she sat.

Daddy wake-up! Daddy wake-up!

But daddy continued to sleep.

She continued to cry and scream with pain and those seated in the church began to weep

As the lamp went dark and the casket was sealed

A new chapter in life God began to reveal

A time of chaos and confusion so surreal but not an illusion

This small little girl alone in a world without her daddy!

Heart full of Love-Heart full of ache: Long walks she began to take.

Promises made and Promises broken:  Strength and resilience would be her token.

Heart full of sorrow but continuous prayer: On her knees she fell into the arms of her Father and on that very day

The Holy Spirit met her and gently led the way.

Her first step was denial as she waited by the window, days passed and she asked when is daddy coming home?

As her mama bravely told her daddy is gone away, she went back to the window and waited to see his face.

Her second step was anger, for a girl so young this was danger. As she grew only a few relationships she knew.

Men would come and men would go but real love she would never know because her heart still felt the anger that she knew from age 2.

Step three involved bargaining when she aged enough to realize; living wasn’t easy and her worth was belittled in society’s eyes.

Maybe God would take her too, if only he knew all the pain she had endured through the years as she matured.

Depression was her next step and it lasted a good while, bad decisions, college dropout and single mother filled her file.

Her final step was acceptance as she began to change her mind, yes daddy died but Jesus lives and His spirit does remind

His love will never fail and His grace removed the veil

Jesus lives and she does too

And her life is so brand new!
