In My Daughter’s Eyes

In my daughter’s eyes there are goals to achieve

There’s a future to create and a legacy to leave

In my daughter’s eyes her life is like a song

and she’s swaying to the beat of a song she made her own

In my daughter’s eyes the finish line is close

she excels at what she does and she achieves more than most

In my daughter’s eyes education is the way

that she will finance her dreams and see a brighter day

In my daughter’s eyes I empower her to be

A woman full of confidence, grace and mercy

In my daughter’s eyes love makes her feel safe

I raised her with my love and I poured out my faith

Into a little girl so sweet, My Heavenly Father allowed me to meet

Thank you God that I see love in my daughter’s eyes!

What is SUGA?

SUGA pronounced (sugar without the r) is a mindset. Suga has become the way that I govern my life and everything that I tackle. Every speech, short story, narrative, newsletter, program, flyer or original poem that I create is empowered by SUGA!

Years ago when I submitted to God’s calling in my life, he began coaching me by saying; “I am able!” I would say Lord, but I don’t have any money and he would say; “I am able!” I would say Lord; but I am a single mother and I’ve made some bad choices and he would say; “I am able!” For every excuse that I made for not finishing college or not accepting an opportunity or not completing a task he would say; “I am able!’ One day I replied back by saying, “Simply Understand God is Able?” And He said “exactly!”

From that moment forward, I made a personal decision to put a little SUGA in my life. Messed up finances…put a little SUGA on it! Bad Choices..put a little SUGA on it! Temptation and sin…put a little SUGA on it! If you make a decision to put a little SUGA in your life…it will go a long way!

SUGA is “Simply Understand God is Able!” Whatever obstacles you may face or any issue that may try to hinder the word of God in your life, simply understand God is able to fix it!

SUGA reminds me that I once was the women at the well, listening to the Lord tell me about myself and my misdeeds (John 4). SUGA reminds me that I once was that women caught in sin with nowhere left to turn but to Him (John 8) and SUGA reminds me that just like the lame man by the pool (John 5) I once was weak and felt that I had no way of getting help!

After SUGA, I once was blind but now I see! If you hold on to HIS promises just as I have, He will get you through it! He turned my single status to married, my dropout status to degreed and my messed up finances to doing just fine! Thank you Lord!

Enjoy your weekend and remember to put a little SUGA on it!

Choices

Psalm 51:10-12 (NIV)10 Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. 11 Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. 12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.

Today’s scripture illustrates David’s beautiful plea to God for help.  At this point in David’s life, he has found out that it is better to be in the presence of God than to be outside of His will. David is desperately asking God to intercede on his behalf, to make him distinct, extraordinary and set apart for His purpose. David has found out that having a spirit that is willing to submit to the will of the Lord is better than submitting to fleshly desires.

In our personal lives, we all have choices to make. Life or death, Faith or flesh…what will you choose? Will you choose a pure heart, a steadfast spirit and the joy of the Lord’s salvation or will you choose to meditate on what is impure and unholy to the Lord?

As we go about our day, we will incur obstacles. The objective is to sustain and the way to do is to meditate on God’s word and have an open line of communication with him (prayer). Keeping fighting and standing for Him!

A Blessed Life

How to live a Blessed life

Psalm 1:1-2 (NIV) 1 Blessed is the man who does not walk in the
counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of
mockers.2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he mediates
day and night.

Today’s scripture provides for us a blueprint
on how to live a life that is blessed by the Lord. What keeps us focused on the
goodness of God is an intimate relationship with Him. We have a duty to the
body of Christ to be relevant and useful for the building of God’s kingdom. In
order to fulfill His purpose for our life, we must spending time in His word
and meditate on what it actually says. When we meditate on God’s plan for us and walk it out in our daily lives,
we lead others to Christ by our example. Remember, you are a living epistle for the Lord!

Prayer: Dear Lord, we come to you on this day, seeking divine revelation from your word. We thank you for the many
lessons that we learn when communicating with you. You are our source and the reason that we strive to fulfill your purpose for us. Lord, we know that we
fall short every day, so we thank you for new mercies each morning. We love you! In Jesus name…Amen!

A Need To Meet

John 4:1-4, 7-9 KJV
When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John, 2(Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,) 3He left Judaea, and departed again into Galilee. 4And he must needs go through Samaria.

7There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink. 8(For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)  9Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, how is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.

Much like Jesus in the story of the Samaritan woman, we as Christians have been called to meet a need. In the story we find that Jesus left his place of influence to meet a need in a place considered disgraceful. The text states that Jesus left Judaea, a place where he had empowered his disciples to baptize those who accepted the truth that he was indeed the coming Messiah. Verse 4 says,“And he must needs to go through Samaria.”

Right here, I have to stop and praise God!
See, a few weeks ago God sent a message my way. He had a message for me and He knew just how to package it. Pastor Paula White spoke at a church in my area and this was the spoken word:

We all have a need to fulfill and a purpose to realize. God has fully equipped us with the dreams, visions and know-how to accomplish what he needs us to accomplish in our area of influence and he has provided us with a big enough portion to minister in those dark places.

2 Timothy 1:9 KJV says “we have been saved and called…” and 1 John 2:6 says, “Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.”

Family, we have been called to action. Genesis 28:2 says, Arise and Go!” and Deuteronomy 10:11 says, Arise and begin…”. Once we accept our commission from the Lord, we not only glorify His name but we also equip others to walk in their purpose and help continue the work that God orchestrated so long ago!

A Prayer of Honesty

“A Prayer of Honesty”

My dearest Heavenly Father

I hope I am not a bother

From you I need to hear

To know that you are near

I need to feel your love

And strengthened from above

My issues have me weary

I need to see more clearly

Your word to me revealed

In your Presence I am healed

I am in my sacred place

Lying prostrate on my face

I am putting aside the weight

that you promised you would take

I am casting my cares on you

because your instruction tells me to

Lean not to my own understanding

Although my life can be demanding

I will have faith and just believe

That your Promises will be achieved!

Eden Revisited

In search of Acceptance…

O Desperate Woman, Inspired by: Genesis 3:6-7 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.

O
Desperate woman to become so wise

You
gave up eternity because of your eyes

A pleasant sight you thought you perceived

But
foolish you how easily deceived

The
serpent came and sold you his plan

To
shame humanity and curse the land

A
close walk with God is what you lost

Before
that bite did you estimate the cost

Your
sorrow was multiplied and your husband shall rule

To work the ground and tend to it became his daily duel

But
in the midst of your rebellion God put His plan to work

A
Savior set on redemption would be earth’s biggest perk.

To
save mankind from sin and shame was His mission

To
educate a chosen people and bring in the addition

Jews
and Gentiles all are welcome, God wants us all

To
reap the benefits of redemption after mankind’s fall

Grace
and Mercy cover God’s people from head to toe

Jesus
is the only Saving Grace and soon all the world will know.

Obedience

1 Samuel 15:17-19 NIV 17 Samuel said, “Although you were once small in your own eyes, did you not become the head of the tribes of Israel? The LORD anointed you king over Israel. 18 And he sent you on a mission, saying, ‘Go and completely destroy those wicked people, the Amalekites; wage war against them until you have wiped them out.’ 19 Why did you not obey the LORD? Why did you pounce on the plunder and do evil in the eyes of the LORD?”

Today’s scripture outlines Saul’s disobedience to God. God gave him a direct command and Saul disobeyed. As I studied this story, I could not help but think how often God speaks into our lives and tells us to get rid of some stuff. Being that God is our creator and that he is all-seeing and all-knowing, we can rest assured that he has nothing but the best intentions for us. When God says get rid of it ALL, we should be willing to let it die.

Symbolically, the Amalekite nation represents cruelty and cowardice.  In a sense God was commanding Saul to rid the land of fear and cruelty so that it would not present itself as an obstacle for the Israelites. When Saul did not follow through with the Lord’s command, he was rejected by God and removed as king. What has God commanded you to get rid of? Self-pity, jealousy, fear, doubt or just plain sin?  The Lord has commanded; “Go and completely destroy….”, not only will God’s will be done, but the church body will be better off because of your obedience to the Lord!

From Age to Age

Living Proof Live with Beth Moore was awesome! The atmosphere was holy and useful for the work of the Lord to be accomplished!

Our lesson was taken from Deuteronomy 10:20 which reads…Fear the Lord your God serve him. Hold fast to him and take your oaths in His name. (NIV)

We were encouraged to Hold Fast to God, which literally means… stick to, cling to or hold onto! This is a very timely message for me as I trust God to work out His purposeful plan in my life.

My true AHA moment came from divine revelation of one significant line sang by the praise team, “From Age to Age your word will stand Forever and Amen!”

This one line says so much to me…no matter how I might feel about myself at any given moment; only God’s words hold true and they will remain forever!

Deuteronomy 10:15 says…the Lord chose me, Deuteronomy 10:17 says…he loves me and defends me and Deuteronomy 10:21 says…He is my praise and my God!

If I am unable to find the right words to speak over myself all that I have to do is recite HIS words! His words are true and they remain the same forever!

“From Age to Age your word will stand Forever and Amen!”

About My Father’s Business

Philemon 1:6 I (NIV) I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ. Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother have refreshed the hearts of the saints.

(History) The Book of Philemon is a personal letter from Paul to Philemon regarding Onesimus. Onesimus was Philemon’s runaway slave, whom had stolen from him. While on the run Onesimus meet Paul and was introduced to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Needless to say, Onesimus was a changed man from that day forward. Paul  took care of him and helped to nurture his belief and trust in Christ.

(Plot) At a certain point in time, Paul sent Onesimus back to Philemon. He sent him back as a repentant believer. Paul sent him back to the very one that he had wronged, in hopes that Philemon would accept Onesiums as the man that he was now, instead of what he used to be.

(Opportunity) Today’s scripture is a personal plea from Paul to Philemon. Paul trusted and believed in Philemon as a man of God. He wanted Philemon to apply his faith to this messed up situation. It would have been so easy for Philemon to simply write Onesiums off as a useless slave and thief, but Paul knew that if Philemon could forgive Onesiums for his faithless deeds and show compassion towards him, it would be a breath of fresh air, not only for each of them, but for all those working faith.

(Our Responsiblity) As believers in the gospel of Christ, we have a duty to share our faith with others and also apply it full in our lives. Not only will this be encouragement for all who are watching but, it will serve as an internal system of checks and balances for ourselves.

(Prayer) Dear Father, help us to walk in love with all believers and non-believers today. Help us to offer encouragement where it is needed and share our testimony of faith. Lord, not only do we want to lead by example, we also want to bear witness to the small steps of progression that we make in Christ today. We love you and thank you for your Word. In Jesus Name. Amen
