And Another Thing

Philippians 3:13-14 NKJV

My earlier post listed three declarations in the scriptures to help get us through tough times in our lives. Those three declarations are: “I don’t understand, I will not forget and I will press on. Without further examination those conclusions may be a little confusing since the scriptures blatantly tell us to forget those things which are behind us.

Admitting that we don’t understand places us in a spiritually prostrate position before the Lord. We acknowledge that his plan and purpose for our life is greater than any knowledge that we may think that we have about what he is doing in our lives.

Admitting that we will not forget doesn’t mean that we will dwell on the failed outcome, it means that we accept the mistake, forget the offense but take with us the lessons that need to be learned.

And finally, when we trust God enough to press on, we put our faith into action and begin to operate under his perfect grace. Grace such as this only comes with obedience to God’s word.

I pray this message finds you in peace.

Things Remembered

Philippians 3:13-14 NKJV- Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended: but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Oftentimes we can be hard on ourselves for bad decisions that we’ve made in our past. If we’re not careful we will allow our entire life to be defined by a few bad choices that we made during a weak season in our life. Maybe it was a bad breakup or a financial investment gone wrong, or maybe something as simple as a lapse in judgment on our part. Those choices can have a profound affect on us and how we conduct our everyday life.

We view some mistakes as being more difficult to bounce back from than others. Sometimes we’re embarrassed and think how could this have happened to me and then there are those other times when we worry about what others will think of us because of our misstep.

In those times I am comforted by verses 13 and 14 in Philippians Chapter 3 because they say so eloquently say the words that I often have trouble reciting. The word makes it clear that we will make mistakes, but it’s how we bounce back after the mistake that will determine our outcome. In those two versus I found three declarations to help get me through the tough times: I don’t understand, I will not forget and I will press on.

File those missteps in your “things remembered file” and press on toward the victory in Jesus Christ. He doesn’t want us to get stuck in our past, we’ve been purposed for greater things ahead.

Different on Purpose

John 15:13 KJV: Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friend.

How would you spend your time if you knew someone purposely died for you? Would you live any differently? Would you make different choices? What if someone loved you so much that they willingly gave up their life so that you could live a victorious one. How would you remember them? Would you resolve to live your life by honoring them or would you chose to live on your own terms and disregard their honorable act of sacrifice.

For the millions who have accepted Christ and made the choice to devote their lives to him, let’s make it our business to live different on purpose. I know it can be easy to get caught up in the everyday messiness of the world and heaven knows that we are far from perfect people but effort goes a long way. When God created the Heavens and the Earth, he put forth the effort. When Adam and Eve found themselves unclothed in the Garden and God gave them covering, he put forth the effort. When God raised Lazarus from the dead and restored life to him, he put forth the effort. The same effort was exhibited when God gave us his only begotten son. All throughout the Bible we find God always putting forth effort on our behalf.

How are you repaying him?

When God created you, he put forth the effort so that you could fulfill a void that exists in this world. Without your time, talent and influence, there is a need that will forever be unfulfilled. What can you do to live different on purpose to ensure that God’s word is fulfilled in your life.

My different on purpose looks like this: Personally, I like to sprinkle a little SuGa into the lives of believers and seekers. Prayerfully I give myself away to be used by God. Purposely I share the message of Christ with others with the hope that they will share with someone else.

Make the effort to live different on purpose today.

SUGA

Genesis 18:14- Is anything too hard for the Lord?….

Life is all about transition. Some transitions are easy while others can be a real challenge. We are often faced with changes in our relationships, careers and health status just to name a few.

I’ve faced many challenges throughout my life, from losing my father at a very young age to various health scares over the years these transitions and numerous others have been key in molding me into the woman who I am today.

I’ve come to appreciate my strength, my resilience, the love of my family and most importantly the unwavering hand of God.

In all honesty, if it wasn’t for SUGA I don’t know where I would be.

For me, SUGA is more than a writing handle. It’s a way of life, a mindset, an action plan, my personal brand, my calling card, my help in times of trouble and my friend in times of triumph.

SUGA reminds me that there is nothing too hard for my God.

SUGA to regulate your mind, SUGA to be a friend that sticks closer than a brother, SUGA to keep you from falling, SUGA to grant you success, SUGA to bless you coming in and bless you going out, SUGA to preserve your life!

The key to  making SUGA work is to trust God at His word. You have to repeat his word back to him.

Simply Understand God is Able to………….?  What has God helped you transition through?

Put a little SUGA on that transition and watch God move on your behalf.

Much Love,

And Such Were Some of You

1 Corinthians 6: 10-11 – Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. AND SUCH WERE SOME OF YOU: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

Compassion makes the world go round.

At some point in our lives, we’ve all exhibited behaviors that we are not proud of. We all have certain skeletons tucked away in our closets that we hope and pray no one ever finds out about. Before we took that faithful leap to trust God at his word and to accept his gift of eternal life, we had a colorful past.

As the next generation comes up and experiences some of the “uglies” of life, it’s our duty to have compassion, to share our experiences and to profess how Jesus saved us from a life a sin.

Compassion is necessary.

I sit here today communicating a word of encouragement for others but there have been many low points in my life when I needed to be on the receiving end of an encouraging word.

Yes, I often fall short of God’s glory but his word reassures me that I am washed, justified and sanctified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God. God loves me enough to forgive me and so shall I extend this same Grace to the next one.

Yes, I am a sinner and such were some of you. Use your testimony to save someone, not to judge or tear down.

Compassion goes a long way.

So as the good book says; God is able to keep you from falling and to present you as faultless. If he can do it for you, he can do it for the next person. If God forgets a thing, we don’t have the right to remember it.

Show compassion to one another and remember that once upon a time….”such were some of you.”

Much Love,

“Lord, you said!”

Isaiah 62:6-8 NIV I have posted watchmen on your walls, Jerusalem; they will never be silent day or night. You who call on the Lord, give yourselves no rest, and give him no rest till he establishes Jerusalem and makes her the praiseof the earth.

As my angels camp around me while I  focus and give you praise, I honor you in all things and I acknowledge your perfect ways

Lord, you said my days shall be long and my health shall be strong if I keep holding on to your unchanging hand

Lord, you said my days shall be blessed and my mind will not stress if I cast my cares, peace shall be mine

Lord, you said my family will be settled if I trust and do not meddle, the reward is great, promotion comes from above

Lord, you said I will posses the land by the power of your hand, if I work and do not quit, a royal birthright is mine!

Dear Lord,  thank you for granting us access to you through your word! It never gets old and never looses its power! Great and mighty are you!

Much Love,

~SuGa~

Because He Lives!

Matthew 28:5-The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here, he has risen, just as he said.

If Jesus had not risen from the grave, we would be doomed to a life of darkness, sin, inequity and death. If Jesus still lay in the tomb, there would be no hope for humanity and no pardon for sin. Jesus could have stayed in his tomb and not even bothered to give this sin-sick world another thought….But He Rose!

Because Jesus rose from the grave, we have power over death, darkness and sin. Because Jesus rose, as believers in him and his ministry, we have been positioned to rise above the enemy. Because Jesus rose, we have full confidence that grace and mercy chase after us!

The Word of God says…Jesus is able to keep us from falling and to present us before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy! In the tomb, there is no glory, no presence and no joy, only darkness.  In Jesus, there is love, forgiveness of sin and miracles forever more!

Jesus rose for me and for you, celebrate him on this Holy Easter Day!

“Because he lives, I can face tomorrow”

“Because he lives, all fear is gone”

“Because I know, he holds the future”

“And life is worth the living, just because he lives”

~Happy Easter, Happy Resurrection…May God continue to Bless you and Keep you~

Crown Him Lord!

John 19: 2 The soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head. They clothed him in a purple robe and went up to him again and again, saying, “Hail, king of the Jews!” And they struck him in the face.

With this, Pilate handed Jesus over to the crowd and they shouted…crucify him! Jesus was led away to be crucified on a hill called Golgotha (Calvary). As he hang on the cross, he bore all of our sins. All the deception, all the hate, all the murder, all the lies, any such horrific thing that you could ever imagine, Jesus bore them all. He stood in the gap for me and for you and he did it out of love. He knew that we did not posses the power to save ourselves from a life and an eternity of hell, so he did it for us!

As the hours passed by and scripture was fulfilled, Jesus gave up his spirit. He finished the work that God had purposed him to accomplish. He saved all of humanity! He reconciled a lost creation back to the creator.

Family, on this day..we celebrate the life, the legacy, the sacrifice and the love of Jesus. This day which is so loving called Good Friday or Preparation day, is a day to remember. On the mission field Jesus touched the lives of many people and many witnessed the love and mercy that he showed. Jesus took the time to minister to people at their place in life. He went to the cities, to the wilderness, to the well and to houses of those who were hurting and in need. Those who believed and had faith were healed and those who rejected his word were given over to their own beliefs and desires.

Jesus gives us all free choice and freewill, it’s up to you!

If you are reading this post and have yet to declare Jesus as Lord of your life, you can pray this simple prayer and have full confidence that he hears your plea:

Dear God, I know that my sin has separated me from you. Thank you that Jesus Christ died in my place. I ask Jesus to forgive my sin and to come into my life. Please begin to direct my life. Thank you for giving me eternal life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.   For reference read Romans 3:23-26

Remember your sin can never out weigh the love of God! He made you, He knows you, He loves you, He sustains you and he wants to spend eternity with you!
