Making HerStory Everday!

March is the month for celebrating women and all of our accomplishments. Either past or present, international or domestic, large scale or small, your contributions to history are important, necessary and they deserve to be celebrated.

Always remember the opinions and judgements of others belong to them. Never allow those opinions to keep you from expressing your intelligence, your creativity and your freedom to be exactly who you desire to be.

Now my question to you is, “what do you want to accomplish and what’s your plan to get there?

How will you muster up the confidence to show up for yourself and to take the necessary risks to live a life that you love?

The Law of Navigation is often used by leaders to ensure their team is well prepared for success. I like to use this law when I tackle any type of personal endeavor.

The Law of Navigation says, “A Leader is one who sees more than others see, who sees farther than others see and who sees before others do.”  In short, this means you need to approach your dreams from a 365-degree view and then zoom in on the details. Open your eyes, your heart and your mind to envision the journey and all that you will need to make it a reality.

So, what is that you want to accomplish and how do you need to prepare for it. What’s your goal and what milestones do you need to accomplish in order to get there?

Let’s talk about your vision. For the month of March, you can grab one of my quick hit strategy sessions for 50% off. You’ll have 60 minutes to run your idea by a neutral party and brainstorm different ways to make it a reality. Now is your time to make a plan and act on.

What side of women’s history do you want to be on?

Keep dreaming. believing & manifesting!

Oh yeah, if you’re near Charlotte, NC today stop by The Coco Drip from 12p-3p. The location is 1824 Statesville Blvd. Ste. 105, Charlotte, NC.

I’ll have a variety of Planters, Sunglasses, Headwraps and Earrings for your shopping pleasure!

Happy Women’s History Month!

Weekly Devotional – Grounded for Stability

Outside of relationship with God, I am lost. There are no number of Social Activities, Work Engagements or other Commitments that allow me to feel the same satisfaction as having a true and uninhibited relationship with God.

In relationship I find peace, understanding, structure and stability.

I will embrace my uniqueness and seek to fully understand the work that I have been purposed to complete.

The closer I move toward God the more I understand who I am in him.

  • Words of reflection: relationship, satisfaction, uniqueness, uninhibited, purposed, structure, stability
  • Inspiration: Jesus Calling / Page:211
  • Scripture Reference: Psalm 42:1-2; Psalm 34:5; Philippians 2:15

The Big Reveal

So here’s a snapshot of my 2017 Vision Station. The upper board is used to illustrate the goals that I want to accomplish in the upcoming year. I prefer words overs pictures so that I am free to imagine myself completing the goal as I see fit. Pictures tend to stifle my creativity and don’t exactly give me the motivation that I need.

20161231_204005

The lower board is my interactive space. This is where I post my objectives, resource list, action plan, focus word and theme song. I also have a folder to capture ideas and notes. In the past I created separate boards for my business and personal goals but my Career Confidence Coach, Kandis Webb helped me to realize that the two should be conjoined. As an entrepreneur, I am the face and brand of my business. It’s only right that I incorporate those terrific, quirky and unique qualities about myself into my business model.

Same goes for you.

So what’s the point of a ‘theme song?” It’s a proven fact that music stimulates the create thinking process. While you’re being magnificent and churning out new ideas, you need a song that resonates with you. I chose 2 for 2017. The song Unfamiliar by Common is awesome. I absolutely love this song. It reminds me to be open and receptive to the unfamiliar because great opportunities, relationships and partnerships often show up when you least expect it. My 2nd song is Location by Khalid. I love, love, love it! That one line when he says, “What’s the Move and I Got You,” reminds me to be spontaneous and open to new adventures.

I chose to tackle my fitness goals first. I was ready and there was no point in putting it off. I began training with @sakinareneefit on December 20th. In two weeks I’ve dropped a pant size and gained lots of energy!

Wanna know what goal I may struggle with a little?

To get to a state of cool may take me awhile but I’m working on it!  ( don’t judge me)

Now the only thing left for you to do is decide that you’re ready to gain focus, clarity and most of all Peace in manifesting your 2017 goals.

Positioned for Peace: Your Action Plan For A Peaceful Lifestyle in 2017 is available throughout the month of January for your employees, community group, ministry, social club or group of friends. The workshop includes a PowerPoint, worksheets and team building exercises. You provide the location and I’ll provide the expertise.

Be Informed

Positioned For Peace

  1. Be Informed

“focused, intentional effort to increase ones’ knowledge about conflict and how to handle it.”

Image result for informed

One of the most valuable traits of a Peacemaker is their desire to be informed. Through research, study, training and personal experience, the heart of a peacemaker longs to help transform conflicts and bring relief to hurting people and communities.

Two ways in which Peacemakers positon themselves for peace include:

  1. Preparing themselves by acquiring knowledge about conflicts, such as social injustice through community involvement.
  2. Declaring a specific area of expertise and working extensively in that field.

The value of being Informed:

Being informed about issues builds trust and influences others to support  your cause. ~People don’t at first follow worthy causes. They follow worthy leaders who promote causes they can believe in.

If you’re looking to create change and become a Peacemaker…be informed.

Peace In Action,

Melissa

The Circle of Admiration

MAYAladies_1024x1024When it comes to achieving goals, the first 21 days are vital. It’s in this 3 week time period that you create a routine, adjust to the new self-imposed requirements and train your mind to accept this new behavior. Studies show that if you can make it through this introductory period, you have a better chance of reaching the finish line.

One way of holding yourself accountable is to create a Circle of Admiration. This can be done by studying the lives and accomplishments of various people in history and using their stories as a way of motivating you to reach those goals that you set for yourself.

Think of it as research.

Whether you’re a student, a corporate climber or an entrepreneur, it’s important to pay attention to those who have taken similar paths as yours.

The intention is not to copy what they’ve done but to make you more aware that there is more than one way to reach a goal.

headline

The following techniques can be used to create your personal Circle of Admiration:

  1. Research top influencers in your areas of interest. Priscilla Shirer is a great friend of mine, in my mind. I love her books and bible studies. I admire the way that she boldly teaches the word of God in a relatable and easy to follow format. Her life and commitment to live out her dreams is a big motivator for me.
  2. Turn to your community. Role Models and Mentors can be found in your church, at work or in community groups. Some of the greatest community activists are found in local barber and beauty shops. It’s okay to strike up a conversation and get to know who’s next to you in the shopping aisle.
  3. If all else fails virtual is an option. With the popularity of social media, you can take advantage of virtual mentorship. LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram can give you insight into the professions, academics and hobbies of highly accomplished people.

When The Silence Becomes Too Loud

image

In life we experience moments of silence that always seem to last too long. Those times when we’re waiting on God to move in our life and we’re somewhere between Provision and Promise. The silence of uncertainty can get kind of loud!

Are you familiar with LOUD SILENCE?

If you’re familiar with worry, fear, distress or frustration, you know exactly what I’m referring to.

LOUD SILENCE is the extreme opposite of PEACE.

It’s important to recognize the symptoms of Loud Silence before they invade your space and wreck your Peace.

Today I’m giving you three simple action steps to take for reestablishing disrupted peace.
1. Check your perspective: are you viewing the situation from a limited point of view? Even if things aren’t working out how you planned, are you mature enough to understand that your situation will work out exactly how it should.
2. Speak life: always know that your reality is shaped by the words that you speak. You have the power to create love, demolish strongholds and change your mindset simply by speaking words of encouragement and positivity.
3. Lean on Friends: allow those who love you to encourage you. Spend time with family and friends, laugh and laugh some more and wake up each day looking forward to creating new memories.

Choose Peace over Fear

Creating more Peace in our lives begins with changing our thought process and mindset. The way that we think about a thing ultimately shapes your beliefs about the experience and the outcome.

I realize that we live in an world of uncertainty but how much more could we enjoy the life that we’ve been given by simply changing how we think.

Lets talk about fear-based thinking and how it causes us to live a defeated life.

Fear based thinking is defined as having a mindset that focuses on limiting beliefs. What ever opportunities arise, a fear-based thinker will find a reason not to show up for the challenge. Many people miss out on travel opportunities and career advancement because of a fear of uncertainty. Constantly dwelling on why an action shouldn’t be completed instead of focusing on the numerous benefits that a good opportunity can bring is absolutely numbing.

It’s a known fact that you will accomplish every limit that you set for yourself. If you constantly focus on not being able to afford certain things, then you will never afford it. If you focus on never being able to take a vacation, you will never go.  If you truly want to be happy and find Peace within, drop the fear, take action and live your best life!

I’ve laid out three easy to implement tips that will help you eliminate fear-based thinking.

  1. Set goals and take intentional action to accomplish them.
  2. Practice the art of NOW and stop procrastinating.
  3. Establish your choices in truth and stand firm in your decisions.

By taking these steps you’re building your self-esteem, becoming more confident, wiping out fear and establishing Peace!
